ATLANTA - December 9, 2022 - You have heard about Christmas in July,
but what about July during Christmas? Atlanta Track Club is now accepting
submissions for the 2023 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race
T-Shirt Contest. Artists have until February 10 to submit up to three designs
that could appear on the coveted shirt worn by more than 50,000 finishers of
Atlanta's Fourth of July tradition. Submissions can be made via the Club's website.
"The T-shirt design contest is part of what makes the Peachtree
such a special event," said Rich Kenah, race director and CEO of Atlanta Track
Club. "The race is truly for everyone and nothing tells that story more than a
finisher's shirt designed by a local artist and chosen by the runners and
walkers."
A panel of judges from Atlanta Track
Club, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Atlanta running, and walking
community will narrow the hundreds of expected submissions down to five.
Artists will be judged on the contest rules including limiting the number of
colors, embodying the history of the event and consideration for how the design
will print on technical fabric. The public will have the month of March to vote
on the finalists through an online poll at ajc.com/Peachtree. The winner will
remain a closely guarded secret until the morning of July 4. In addition to
having their artwork displayed on the summer's most prized piece of apparel,
the winning designer will also win $1,000.
The 54th Running of the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 starting at Lenox
Square and finishing in Piedmont Park. Guaranteed registration for Atlanta Track
Club members opens March 1. Members receive the lowest price and placement in
Wave M or better. Registration for non-members will open on March 8 and will be
on a first-come, first-served basis until June 1 or until the event reaches
capacity.
